New Service Opportunity: Neighborhood Linkup

One of our church’s core values is serving. It’s right there on our wall! The key Bible verse illustrating this to our church is Ephesians 2:10, which says, “He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join Him in the work He does, the good work He has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.” It’s because of this call to serve and bring the Kingdom of Jesus to everyone that we have partnered with our local schools in helping provide supplies and other needs this year. It’s because of this call, and because of the love we have for our Savior and He for us, that we ask you to serve with us now.

There’s a big service movement growing in our community, and you have the opportunity to be part of it! It’s called the Neighbor Linkup. When local schools and aid organizations discover a need that the community can provide, it will be posted there – anything ranging from financial help, furniture, food, baby supplies, or gift cards for gas, clothing, or groceries. All around Vancouver, people are adding their email addresses to this linkup so that they can quickly and easily respond to these needs.

Alternatively, if you have an item or skill to offer – for example, you’re trying to get rid of a bed that’s still in good condition, or you like working on cars – you can sign up to be specifically contacted when someone needs what you have to offer.

The Neighbor Linkup provides an amazing opportunity for people just like you to take initiative and serve. Any needs will be sent as Neighbor Linkup alerts right to your inbox, freeing you to act that much quicker when something goes wrong for a local family. If you read the alert and choose not to be involved in that instance, it’s OK! There are others in the network who can meet the need. If you would like to meet a need, however, simply call the phone number on the alert.

Please consider signing up with the Neighbor Linkup! You can participate to your comfort level, knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of a local family.
