Share in the Labor, Share in the Joy

This year, Real Life turns 10! We are full of praise and thankfulness for the amazing things God has done for and through us during these ten years. He has truly been faithful through all the challenges, changes, and growth we’ve experienced. Rather than just let our anniversary slide by, we want to observe the occasion as a “standing stone,” a way to observe and honor where we’ve been and also look forward to where we’re going.

Isaiah 61 offers a glimpse of both what a church is called to do and what it is empowered to accomplish:

He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed…
To all who mourn in Israel,
he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,
a joyous blessing instead of mourning,
festive praise instead of despair.

These verses can be seen in our six core values: experiencing, belonging, growing, inviting, serving, and celebrating. We have asked God to do a lot for us with these values in mind, and He has! He has provided for thousands of children and youth experiencing VBX, youth retreat, Neewollah, and kids’ camps. He has encouraged our hearts to be more generous as we support local schools and aid organizations. Best of all, He has touched hearts and led over 300 people to get baptized and dedicate their lives to the Eternal God!

As a part of the Real Life community, you have opened your hearts generously to support these programs, giving back to the glory of God what He has already given us. We’ve had ten amazing years thanks to your willingness to serve!

Even though Real Life has been greatly blessed, we want to keep in mind that we are just one campus among many, just one church among thousands trying to do God’s work and reveal the Kingdom to those who need to see it most. We are blessed with the opportunity and ability to do the best work possible: work that helps people come into lasting, personal, life-changing relationships with Jesus Christ.

As you’ve shared in the labor, share in the joy as we celebrate how far we have come as a church and servants of God. Your sacrifice has borne excellent fruit, so come celebrate with us! Join us Sunday, August 23 for a special anniversary message at either 9:30 or 11:15am. After that, witness lives transforming as we offer baptisms at Cottonwood Beach on the banks of the Columbia. We’ll gather there at 2pm to enjoy lunch and begin baptisms at 4. Bring a picnic and games and share in a day of worship and fellowship with this amazing community.

I say it a lot, but this year, it’s true more than ever: I love my church!
