Meet Simple Life

As part of our desire to partner with what God is doing and to impact our city for Jesus, Real Life Church is partnering to help plant a new church, called Simple Life, in Hazel Dell this October. You’ll get to hear from the church plant team here on this blog to learn more about this new church, their vision, and how God is at work there.

Everyone I know wants to escape.

Amid the hectic pace of modern life, filled with careers and commutes and kids and debt, the constant cry from those I know is “let me out of here!” They want to be liberated from the tyranny of the urgent into the peace and freedom of a simple life.

One friend of mine is building a tiny house. Another bought a farm and some goats. One more quit his job for no discernible reason – he just wanted to disconnect from the mundane pattern of knowing where he was going to be each day. All these friends are worn out by the pressures of their lives. They want something simpler.

We can’t all quit our jobs, but we can still help people like these friends. I want to build a church for these people: the frazzled, the stressed, the confused, and the overextended. I want to create a simple space that fits into the pattern of these people’s lives and shows them that God can liberate them right where they are. I want to show that true peace comes not from goats, but from the Gospel.

Over the next few months, you’ll be hearing more about Simple Life Church. Our goal is to partner with Real Life Church to plant a congregation in Hazel Dell devoted to discipleship, worship, and community service targeted at people who hunger for a simpler life. As we embark on this journey, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more and to prayerfully support what God is doing.  We look forward to this opportunity to join you in reaching this community.
