Weekly Update: Paint, Paint, and More Paint!

(For those keeping score at home and feeling like these updates are not necessarily weekly, you’re not entirely wrong – most of the updates are being added to our chronicle of the moving journey here! Go there to get the full rundown.)

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at our future location:

  • The exterior is painted and it looks amazing! Drive by and check it out!
  • Volunteers worked hard this week to get the first wave of interior painting done in the upstairs wing (administrative areas and nursery/toddler rooms).
  • We are finalizing designs for the bathrooms.

We’ll announce more painting days in the near future as more areas of the building become ready for it. Your volunteers hours will save us $40K in painting costs alone!

This week, anyone who had pledged to The Building Project got a chance to take a sneak peek at the designs for our future road sign! Don’t worry if you missed out – we are always grateful for your pledges and gifts, and there will be more sneak peeks in the future!

Watch Jeff’s full update in the video below!

We hope you can make it to Vision & Ownership Sunday this Sunday at noon! (If winter weather means we can’t meet this week, we’ll update you via text – get signed up for updates by texting “connect” to (360) 295-6500.)

So far this year, this is what has been accomplished at our future location:

  • Electricity and plumbing are done. The big power pole in the courtyard has been taken down and all power lines are now buried. It looks great!
  • The basement floor has been transformed with beautiful polished concrete. There will be carpet and polished concrete throughout the rest of the building, as well as tile and vinyl plank in areas like the bathrooms.
  • All-new insulation has been installed and drywall is going up.

Plus, our road sign is being custom-built at this very moment! And you have the opportunity to get a sneak peek at that design!

If you pledge or have pledged to The Building Project by Sunday, February 3rd, you will get a sneak peek at our new sign! Go here to learn about how your gifts support our mission and make your pledge, or fill out a pledge card on Sunday.

Plus, mark your calendar for the following Sunday, February 10th: it’s Vision and Ownership Sunday! Join us for a potato bar luncheon and hear about the vision for Real Life in 2019!

God On The Move: Expansion Updates and News

Update 4/24: Easter Sunday went beautifully! We welcomed over 500 people to worship with us – compare that to the ~300 we’ve had in past years!

But this is a new facility, and we are still hammering out some details, so we thank you for your patience and your prayers as we get settled in. Please be in prayer for us over these finishing touches, specifically painting the parking lot, working out sound in both the sanctuary and Kidz spaces, and other logistics.

Update 4/12: Our opening Sunday is almost here! This Sunday in both services, we’ll be celebrating and giving thanks for our time in our original building. After that, enjoy a picnic lunch with us and help us get packed up to move over to the new building!

You can help us make the new building beautiful by coming to the work days next week. Help us vacuum, assemble and arrange furniture, and more!

And, most important of all, mark your calendars for Easter Sunday at 9 and 10:45am at our new building! Invite your friends and family!

Update 3/14: The chandeliers have been hung in the foyer and carpet is being installed! The exposed beams and the stairway pillars have been stained, and the railing is installed. Plus, remember all the paneling we saved from inside the sanctuary? Some of that has been stained and re-hung as accent walls in the foyer.

Update 3/7: It’s been a busy month! WiFi is up and running, vinyl plank flooring has been installed and carpet is next, bathroom tile is almost done, and the custom-built sound booth and sanctuary sound system are in progress!

Update 2/26: Check out this video showing how much progress has been made in a year! We are amazed at everything that has been accomplished and grateful for everyone who helped make it possible. Please be in prayer for us over the next few weeks that our final day in our current building will be April 14th!

Update 2/22: Thanks for your help painting this week! The interior is almost complete. Bathroom fixtures are also being installed this week.

Update 2/8: We will finish up our first round of interior painting this afternoon! Stay tuned for more painting days coming up as more areas of the new building become ready – your volunteer paint hours will save us over $40K!

If you pledged to The Building Project, you got to see our designs for our new road sign! Pretty awesome, huh? Don’t worry if you missed out – we are still grateful for your pledges and gifts, and there will be more sneak peeks in the future!

Watch this video for more news:

Update 1/18: You would hardly recognize the courtyard area now! The power pole is down, all the new doors and windows are in, and the area has been regraded in preparation for concrete and landscaping. The fire sprinkler has been run along the length of the sanctuary ceiling. Drywall is going up and – drumroll please – our new sign is being custom-built at this very moment!

If you haven’t pledged yet, there’s a great opportunity for you to get a sneak peek if you pledged by Sunday the 3rd! You can read about that opportunity here.

Update 1/11: We’re getting hooked up to power! We’ll no longer have a big power pole in our courtyard – all the lines are buried and connected to a pole going up across the street.

For funding, we’ve reached the $3000/month pledge mark that allows us to move into the new building, which is huge! We are in prayer for the remainder, which will cover operating expenses. Those will be comparatively low, though, thanks to the high-efficiency HVAC and lighting, our new windows, and new insulation.

Overall, our giving has reached 77% of the one-time gift goal of $50,000, and 73% of the $5,000/month goal. Thank you for your ongoing generosity!

Update 1/4/19: Electricity is done! Plumbing is done! Concrete work is done! We’ve made the major decisions about flooring and work can begin to finish the basement floor this weekend.

Update 12/7: A new utilities vault has been dug out and installed, and power conduits are being run to the building. Water and sewer connections are done! Please be in prayer for the construction process: for workers to stay safe and for us to keep on schedule!

Update 11/13: Here it is at last: a full walk-through of what our future building is going to look like! If you’ve been wanting to see how this building is going to be used for RLSL, Kidz Life, community functions, and more, check this out!

Update 11/8: The brick has been primer-ed (primed?), which means we will be ready to paint soon! You can get a sneak peek at our exterior paint scheme on our Instagram.

Here’s where we’re at with pledges this week!

Update 11/4: With 99% approval, the church body voted to sell part of the property related to our future location to utilize those funds for further improvement on the main church property. Thank you for helping us be good stewards of our ministry resources!

We have started prayerfully pledging funds to the Building Project to cover the rest of remodel costs not provided for by selling our current property. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by Dec. 31 (one-time pledges) and $5,000 per month after that. We are at about half of our monthly pledge goals already! Thank you!

Update 10/1: Yesterday was the official launch of the Building Project! This all-in-one resource will keep you informed on our vision as a church, remodel plans, and how you can be part of this awesome transition. Read more about it here.

Update 9/17: Framing is done, the new roof is installed, and we’re starting on electrical. We are having a work day 9/29, 9am-3pm, specifically to pull nails from drywall. If that’s something you can help with, bring something to pull nails and meet us at the future building!

Update 8/8: Video update! As construction moves ahead, we’re going to have lots of last-minute calls for workdays to handle projects in a timely fashion. We appreciate everyone who was able to jump in and help last week – there will be lots more chances to help!

Update 7/31: Construction has officially begun!

Update 6/19: Our remodel plans have been approved as-is and way ahead of schedule! It’s a huge blessing to not have to make any (potentially expensive) plan revisions and to be free to go ahead and get building permits.

Update 6/26: Architectural plans for the building remodel have been completed and submitted to the city for approval!

Update 6/4: We held our first official service at the new location last night! We prayed over the planning process and our future community. It was awesome to have over 100 Real Life attendees, newcomers, and community members worshipping with us.

Update 3/2: The sign is up at our new location and we’re beginning to introduce ourselves to our future community! Still finalizing design plans, but we’re looking forward to sharing those with you soon.

Update 1/2/2018: We have accepted an offer on the current property! We will remain in this building for a while, while we finalize architectural plans.

Update 11/20/17: Thanks for all your help at our first work day on Saturday! We removed the first few walls, filled a huge dumpster, and got to introduce our church community to their future home. Stay tuned for the next work day! In the meantime, please continue to be in prayer for this process!

Update 10/5/17: We are continuing talks with the building’s past owners about how we can host them and help them continue to meet as an independent church. Real Life staff are meeting with their leadership teams and our architects and designers to decide on how to make best use of the building for our various ministries and activities.

Update 8/31/17: We will officially sign paperwork and take ownership of the property on Wednesday! Now we can begin designing for the remodel, which will take around 3 months, and look at how to best use the new space (which is 3x what we currently have). We are still grateful for this amazing answer to our prayer for more space to change lives. Real Life Owners, thank you for voting yes to move forward with this opportunity! This is where the fun part begins!

Update 7/23/17: The final paperwork is in process at the bank; please be in prayer for that to go smoothly. We’re also in talks with an architect who will create a design to improve usability inside the building!

Update 7/19/17: We are still in the process of getting the title; here’s a video update from Jeff:

Update 5/8/17: Real Life is moving into a larger building! We’re in the process of obtaining the title.
